Valentine's Day - last minute gift ideas

If like me, you are struggling to find the time to get out and source a gift evoking the purest sense of romance, I've whittled down a few suggestions for him and for her, just a click away.

I have always gone with the approach of the stereotypical Valentine's day gifts; flowers, underwear, chocolates, wine... Regardless of gender, who doesn't love those gifts? Given the Mister is now almost a year free from booze, here are a few suggestions that skip the wine and keep things tea-total:

Given the love of coffee in our house, Perky Blenders is my choice for a special local roast. Their Valentine's Blend is a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Who says underwear is just for the ladies? Arket's Pima and woven cotton underwear options may seem boring, but they have a brilliant cut, the price is budget-friendly and the cotton is responsibly sourced, so a double success for me. For the ladies, Dora Larsen gets my vote this year - the colours, the lace, it's what dreams are made of (with some steals in the sale, FYI)

For the sweet tooth, how about Love Cocoa? Founded by James Cadbury, it's almost as if this gentleman was born to make chocolate - Seriously slick packaging, delectable flavours and 10% of proceeds going to charity, you really would be sharing the love.

On the floral front, Ed can't get enough of greenery, so I will be getting something a bit more permanent for him, something he can tend to on a more regular basis (love fern anyone?) - N1 Garden Centre on Southgate Road is a favourite in our house, the people are always so helpful and the selection is perfect for what I'm looking for. For floral fans, I wholeheartedly recommend Rebel Rebel - based in Hackney, they created the most beautiful bouquet for me last June, with the loveliest delivery and flowers that really lasted - worth every stem.

For slipping into something more comfortable, I may be a milk-creating, legging-busting version of my former self at the moment, but I can still lust after dreamy romantic vibes. Marina London will forever give me life goals and I now can't think of anything more luxurious that the red silk Dree dress - I have it in cream and absolutely adore it, worth the treat - I am working towards having one in every colour, I love them so much. Desmond & Dempsey would get my vote on the his and hers front - brilliant patterns, wonderful fabrics and I love the selection for him and for her. For a more budget-friendly option, & Other Stories has just released a luxe loungewear collection; dangerous times ahead for my bank balance...

We're both pretty bruised and battered in our dreamy new state of parenthood, so Neal's Yard Remedies cater for the special soaks - the seaweed and arnica foaming bath soak is something special, but we may both be guilty of sneaking a bit of Delilah's baby bath and shampoo - the bubbles are amazing and it really does leave skin baby soft. But let's keep things romantic, less baby chat...

For adding a pop of colour whilst keeping things natural, I love the Delilah lipstick in Grace. Their Valentine's edit has plenty of options, but I love the softness of this colour and the finish of this lipstick, along with the paraben-free formula of their products - not to mention the fabulous name. Biased, me? Naturally.

The top of my wishlist? Nothing seems to beat a chilled night in with our little one at the moment (maybe a glass of wine to top off the celebrations). The mister has a few meals he is an absolute whizz at, so I'm hoping his steak and homemade chips are on the cards, followed by a film whilst Delilah snoozes - if I could be casually gliding around in red silk, even better, but I'm happy staying put with my dressing gown this year.
